Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your computer or mobile device. Local storage, pixels, and similar technologies can also save information on or read information from your device. This policy refers to all of them as technologies.
First-party technologies are set by Gideon Defender. Third-party technologies are provided by another organization, such as an analytics provider, and may allow that provider to receive information from your browser.
Why we use these technologies
Gideon Defender uses technologies only for the purposes described here. The technologies active on the current website build are listed in the inventory above.
Strictly necessary: supports security, accessibility, forms, core website operation, and storage of your consent choice.
Performance and analytics: helps us understand aggregate visits, navigation, errors, and page performance so we can improve the website and its content.
Functionality and preferences: remembers choices that improve your experience. Gideon does not currently configure a separate optional functionality category on this website.
Essential and optional categories
Strictly necessary technologies operate without analytics consent when they are required to provide a feature you request, protect the website, or remember your privacy choice. They cannot be disabled through Cookie settings.
Performance and analytics technologies are optional and disabled by default. When a provider is configured, its code is not initialized and its analytics storage is not created until you choose Accept analytics or enable Analytics in Cookie settings.
If Gideon later introduces optional functionality or preference technologies, we will update this policy and provide the appropriate consent control before enabling them.
Analytics provider settings
Google Analytics, when configured, is limited to aggregate site measurement. Its tag and measurement requests use the /metrics/ path on Gideon's domain before being forwarded to Google's first-party gateway. Advertising storage, advertising personalization, and Google Signals are disabled.
PostHog, when configured, uses local storage. Autocapture, session recording, heatmaps, exception capture, feature flags, and anonymous person profiles are disabled. Gideon will change these settings only after updating this policy and the consent interface as needed.
Your choices and browser signals
You may accept, reject, or later change optional analytics through Cookie settings in the website footer. Rejecting or withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection and removes analytics storage that Gideon can clear from this site.
Consent expires after six months, after which the website asks again if analytics remains configured. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Gideon treats it as a direction to keep optional analytics disabled.
Gideon Defender does not sell personal information or use these analytics settings for targeted advertising. To the extent an analytics disclosure is considered sharing under California law, you may opt out through Cookie settings or contact us.
Blocking or clearing browser storage may affect saved preferences.
Browser privacy controls may also prevent third-party technologies from operating.
Strictly necessary technologies are not controlled by the optional analytics setting.
Changes and questions
We may update this policy when providers, purposes, retention periods, or legal requirements change. The date above shows the latest revision.
